What type of photography do you shoot? How long have you been in business?: I have been in the business for about 19 years. Although I am known primarily for my Senior work I run a full-time full-service studio shooting seniors, events, children, families, and babies.
Where are you located?: Madison, WV
When did you first join the Kraft & Jute family?: Recently, I came across a Kraft & Jute display at SYNC and I was in love at first sight. It also just happened to coincide with a time when I was working on creating a gift box for my senior clients.
Name your favorite Kraft & Jute packaging product that you can’t live without: The Presentation Packet for sure! Love!
Best advice that you’ve ever been given in your photography career?: The importance of assigning self projects. As a studio portrait photographer I am continually working for the wishes of the client. But, it is the self -assigned portrait projects that really help me grow and evolve as an artist. It’s during these sessions that I can break away from that day to day grind and create ideas and images that tell stories about our culture both past and present.
If you and your camera were invisible for one day, what would you shoot?: I would definitely visit and shoot on a movie set. I would love to see the process of making a movie form start to finish. I am quite the movie buff.
Tell us a story of something funny, embarrassing, or suspenseful that happened during a shoot: Beck in the days of medium format film, upon removing the film you had to sort of tape the roll shut in order to protect the film from being exposed to light. It could unravel at a moments notice and ruin everything you just photographed. While shooting a wedding, I dropped the film before I was able to seal it and it started rolling across the floor. I just reacted so quick and drove through the tripods legs into a full belly slide across the entire room to retrieve the rolling film. I caught it and the brother of the groom said I dunno what talent that was but it was awesome!
Ever split your pants or get injured all in effort to capture that special shot?: not yet ; )
If you were in a public area and everyone was skipping instead of walking, would you join the fun?: I doubt it. I am a people watcher so I would probably sit down and watch.
