What type of photography do you shoot? How long have you been in business?: I am a wedding photographer and I have been in business since 2012.

When did you first join the Kraft & Jute family?: I joined the Kraft & Jute Family in 2014.

What steps did you go through when creating your packaging? Any advice to photographers beginning to use packaging?: A couple of years ago I completely re-branded. I went from photographing babies and families to solely focusing on engagements and weddings. With so many wonderful options out there I took my time choosing the items that I felt truly reflected my style and my brand. I wanted the products I selected to coordinate with the overall look of my newly designed website, so I selected colors and products that matched my romantic, natural and simple style and I found all of that with Kraft & Jute. The advice that I would give to other photographers is to make sure that you are happy with the overall look of your brand before you start purchasing products that match it. I am proud of the products I selected and I get excited to send off my packaging to clients. Re-branding can be time consuming and a little nerve wracking but it was the best decision I ever made for my business.

Why do you feel that packaging is so important to your brand?: I want my clients to feel loved and appreciated from beginning to end. There are sweet and simple ways to show that you appreciate their business. I want to leave a lasting impression on my clients, and that begins with the wedding magazine they receive when they book me and it ends with their wedding package. It’s my way of showing them just how much I value them and in a digital world I find that holding something tangible is irreplaceable. The Burlap Flash Drive Pouch is one of my favorite details and the mini print release I send each client fits perfectly inside the pouch. I absolutely love the Kraft & Jute Keepsake Box for delivering engagement sessions. It’s the perfect size box to hold 4 x 6 prints and I use the Kraft and Jute Presentation Box for delivering weddings because it can hold a cookbook, something I love sending to couples. I also always include a little handwritten note and a Cropping Guide to help couples decide on the perfect size print. I truly love every detail of my packaging.

Name your favorite Kraft & Jute packaging product that you can’t live without.: I can’t choose just one. The Burlap Flash Drive Pouch & Kraft Keepsake and Presentation Boxes are tied for first place.

Best advice that you’ve ever been given in your photography career? Showcase the type of work that you want to be shooting on your website and say “no” to work that you aren’t passionate about shooting. Before I made the decision to photograph only couples my website had a little bit of everything, from high school seniors to corporate head shots. I felt like my work was all over the place and I didn’t like how I was representing my brand. Once I re-branded and showcased the types of weddings that I wanted to be shooting, my ideal client was able to find me. Also, your editing style is going to evolve over time, but don’t go crazy over all the different presets. Find a style that is timeless and a true reflection of your brand.

Busy Season… Take a Deep Breath, and Email Me!

I’m a business owner (mom, wife and a bunch of other things) and sometimes I get overwhelmed. How about you?

I’ve said this before in a post but I love learning, so I’ve been reading many books lately and the one I’m currently reading has been giving me some great motivational support at a time when things are loading up and getting busy.

So I’m going to share one of my favorite points from my most recent read:

“Most of us go through life as failures because we are waiting for the ‘time to be right’ to start doing something worthwhile. Do not wait. The time will never be “just right”. Start where you stand, work with whatever tools you may have at your command, and better tools will be found as you go along.” (Think and Grow Rich, Napoleon Hill, 2005)

So here is where I start!  I’ve been thinking about this idea for awhile now, but I’m starting.  I love to teach, counsel, help and see other’s grow – in whatever part of life or business it may be.

You are a busy and growing photographer/creative/artist/designer (insert own description).  I want to help!  Do you have questions about what to do with your prints and packaging?  Do you wonder how you can make a better impression on your clients so you can get more bookings? Do you not even know where to begin to look like you have it all together?

If you answered yes to any of these questions, email us at hello@kraftandjute.com and say HELP!  Ask us your questions, my team and I here to help/teach/counsel.  I’ve thought about putting together a formal type of program for this, but right now I’m just Starting Where I Stand!

Let me know if I can help!  Or if this type of service is valuable, wasteful, or a pipe dream!

Jumping In,

Melisa

Let’s get ready to BUNDLE!

Ahh.. see what we did there?! Why should you bundle? Or why should you let us do all the work while you sit back and deliver beautiful images to clients?

Two words: Saving time

It’s the busy season. Photographers & Videographers are in full swing of weddings, seniors, engagement sessions, and more! Not to mention booking weddings for the next year, planning styled shoots, and making time for life, etc.

We wanted a way to make it “easier” on all our fellow creatives. Something that you could buy, put your personal touch on, and deliver. Easy as pie. So what did we come up with?

Kraft & Jute Flash Drive Delivery Bundle

Flash Drive Delivery Bundle!

What do you get?

Delivery Box (8×10 Photo Box) with box filler
8 or 16 GB Flash Drive (engraved with your logo on the front)
Burlap Flash Drive Pouch
Bright White Mini Print Release
(generic)
Notecard + Envelope (personalized with your logo on front)

*YOUR TIME TO SHINE*– We left a spot open for you to add in your own touch. Leave your client with something you know they love, or that you love! (Our favorites are candy, special chocolate, mini wine bottles, extra prints, etc).

Kraft & Jute Flash Drive Delivery Combo

When you get the bundle in the mail.. it’s as simple as 1,2,3!

  1. Transfer your images to the flash drive. And while that’s happening… sign the print release card, writing a personalized note, throwing in your own special touch (chocolate or wine, approved by us!).
  2. Slip the flash drive in the pouch, simple tie off. Closing the lid.. and you’re done!
  3. Deliver to your client.
  4. Watch their eyes light up with all the goodness you just gifted to them! (Not optional)

Because it’s more than just delivering images. It’s delivering moments in time, captured treasures, and special moments for your clients.
