“I want to leave a lasting impression on my clients, and that begins with the wedding magazine they receive when they book me and it ends with their wedding package. It’s my way of showing them just how much I value them and in a digital world
I find that holding something tangible is irreplaceable.”

What type of photography do you shoot? How long have you been in business?: I am a wedding photographer and I have been in business since 2012.

When did you first join the Kraft & Jute family?: I joined the Kraft & Jute Family in 2014.

What steps did you go through when creating your packaging? Any advice to photographers beginning to use packaging?: A couple of years ago I completely re-branded. I went from photographing babies and families to solely focusing on engagements and weddings. With so many wonderful options out there I took my time choosing the items that I felt truly reflected my style and my brand. I wanted the products I selected to coordinate with the overall look of my newly designed website, so I selected colors and products that matched my romantic, natural and simple style and I found all of that with Kraft & Jute. The advice that I would give to other photographers is to make sure that you are happy with the overall look of your brand before you start purchasing products that match it. I am proud of the products I selected and I get excited to send off my packaging to clients. Re-branding can be time consuming and a little nerve wracking but it was the best decision I ever made for my business.

Why do you feel that packaging is so important to your brand?: I want my clients to feel loved and appreciated from beginning to end. There are sweet and simple ways to show that you appreciate their business. I want to leave a lasting impression on my clients, and that begins with the wedding magazine they receive when they book me and it ends with their wedding package. It’s my way of showing them just how much I value them and in a digital world I find that holding something tangible is irreplaceable. The Burlap Flash Drive Pouch is one of my favorite details and the mini print release I send each client fits perfectly inside the pouch. I absolutely love the Kraft & Jute Keepsake Box for delivering engagement sessions. It’s the perfect size box to hold 4 x 6 prints and I use the Kraft and Jute Presentation Box for delivering weddings because it can hold a cookbook, something I love sending to couples. I also always include a little handwritten note and a Cropping Guide to help couples decide on the perfect size print. I truly love every detail of my packaging.

Name your favorite Kraft & Jute packaging product that you can’t live without.: I can’t choose just one. The Burlap Flash Drive Pouch & Kraft Keepsake and Presentation Boxes are tied for first place.

Best advice that you’ve ever been given in your photography career? Showcase the type of work that you want to be shooting on your website and say “no” to work that you aren’t passionate about shooting. Before I made the decision to photograph only couples my website had a little bit of everything, from high school seniors to corporate head shots. I felt like my work was all over the place and I didn’t like how I was representing my brand. Once I re-branded and showcased the types of weddings that I wanted to be shooting, my ideal client was able to find me. Also, your editing style is going to evolve over time, but don’t go crazy over all the different presets. Find a style that is timeless and a true reflection of your brand.

What type of photography do you shoot? How long have you been in business?: Two and a half years, but I’ve always had an obsession for photography. I tend to shoot lifestyle portraiture. I try to avoid posing as much as possible, but will guide clients when they feel uneasy. If I’m shooting children I tend to let them be themselves and capture the moment.
Where are you located?: Metro Detroit, Michigan
When did you first join the Kraft & Jute family?: May 2014. I’m brand new!
Name your favorite Kraft & Jute packaging product that you can’t live without.: I love the Kraft CD Sleeves and their DVD’s. A lot of other places want you to print huge quantities and that just isn’t something that is necessary for me. Kraft & Jute allows you to have beautiful branding items without quantity limitations and that’s what appealed to me the most.
Best advice that you’ve ever been given in your photography career?: “Don’t think about making art, just get it done. Let everyone else decide if it’s good or bad, whether they love it or hate it. While they are deciding, make even more art.” – Andy Warhol
If you and your camera were invisible for one day, what would you shoot?: Concerts. It’s my happy place away from photography. If I could some how photograph my favorite bands live, I’d be in heaven.
Tell us a story of something funny, embarrassing, or suspenseful that happened during a shoot.: The very first senior session I shot (a cousin of mine, fortunately), had an idea to sit on a very large tree branch that really wasn’t more than four feet off of the ground. Within moments of me putting the camera to my face, she completely slipped around the branch and fell into the dirt. No one was injured, thankfully. She was in hysterics, laughing! I have images of this and we still laugh about it to this day.
Ever split your pants or get injured all in effort to capture that special shot?: No, but there have been plenty of times I’ve walked away from a shoot soaking wet and dirty from lying on the ground, kneeling, getting myself into bushes for an artistic framing shot, etc.
If you were in a public area and everyone was skipping instead of walking, would you join the fun?: No, I would capture the moment with my camera!
