It’s our 100 Day Challenge! Wondering what the heck is it? We’ve decided to challenge ourselves and to post new content to our social channels for 100 days! To be honest I’m already feeling a little daunted by the task.
But we know that to market the business, stay top of mind with our customers, share great new product ideas, and to help educate on the value of packaging as a marketing tool, we need to do this. Repetition and consistency are the keys to successful marketing.
So for the next 100 days we will embark on this adventure. And along the way we want to be transparent with you about the process in hopes that we’ll be able to share some great tips and tricks that you can use in your photography business.
Our goal is to:
to share what’s new at Kraft & Jute
encourage you to share what’s new at your studio / business with your following (and us, we’d love to see)
inspire creativity through the use of images and video of other great client packaging
get inspired from you to be creative (we’ve seen some of your images and they are awesome!)
pass along pieces of great marketing content that bring value
If any of this sounds like it might help you, follow along with us on this 100 day challenge! We’ll be using the hashtag #100DaysofKJ to track it!
What type of photography do you shoot? How long have you been in business?: I started my photography business in 2008, and it has slowly changed over the years. In 2013 I was finally able to take a leap of faith and leave my “Office Space” job and focus on photography completely. Currently I specialize in weddings and families. I am also pretty passionate about animal rescue and donate my photography services to an awesome organization called Project Pearl. They work in conjunction with our local county animal control to help increase adoption rates in our area.
Where are you located?: King, North Carolina
When did you first join the Kraft & Jute family?: 2-3 years ago – and I haven’t looked back since!
Best advice that you’ve ever been given in your photography career?: Don’t worry about what everyone else is doing (it’s a distraction). Be YOU! Your ideal clients are investing in you! Trying to be someone else (in presentation or methods) won’t ever work or feel fulfilling.
If you and your camera were invisible for one day, what would you shoot?: My daughter – I wish I could bottle her up while she’s still this sweet, innocent age (she’s 4). I’m obsessed with documenting her! She’s our only and when she’s all grown and I’m old and crusty, I want to make sure I remember everything.
Tell us a story of something funny, embarrassing, or suspenseful that happened during a shoot.: Every shoot with me is funny and I am CONSTANTLY embarrassing myself! All for the sake of getting relaxed and happy folks in front of my camera. It really does help! Photography can be intimidating – as a photographer and as a client, and the more you can do to connect with folks as a real person (instead of the person wielding this huge, scary piece of plastic and metal), the more relaxed and true to life your images are.
Ever split your pants or get injured all in effort to capture that special shot?: Never any pants splitting, but I do have some really exceptional “photographer poses” that help me stoop or squat into the perfect angle for detail shots or little ones. I always tell my clients “My awkwardness = photography awesomeness”. That’s never failed me (yet!).
If you were in a public area and everyone was skipping instead of walking, would you join the fun?: Of course! I’m the one leading the pack! If embarrassing myself helps others have fun, I’m all about it!
Why do you feel that packaging is so important to your brand?: Your entire client experience, from start to finish should be consistent with your brand. For me, I like a natural, clean look and K+J delivers just that! When I present my clients with their images, I want them to take away a beautiful, finished product, and that includes taking the time to package their items with all the fun packaging that K+J offers, while adding my own personal touches that are consistent with my brand. It’s all about setting yourself apart from others in this industry, and packaging is a super important step!
