What type of photography do you shoot? How long have you been in business?: I mainly shoot families, couples, seniors and specialize in equine photography. I opened for business in 2012 at 17 years old !
What type of photography do you shoot? How long have you been in business?: I started my photography business in 2008, and it has slowly changed over the years. In 2013 I was finally able to take a leap of faith and leave my “Office Space” job and focus on photography completely. Currently I specialize in weddings and families. I am also pretty passionate about animal rescue and donate my photography services to an awesome organization called Project Pearl. They work in conjunction with our local county animal control to help increase adoption rates in our area.
Where are you located?: King, North Carolina
When did you first join the Kraft & Jute family?: 2-3 years ago – and I haven’t looked back since!
Best advice that you’ve ever been given in your photography career?: Don’t worry about what everyone else is doing (it’s a distraction). Be YOU! Your ideal clients are investing in you! Trying to be someone else (in presentation or methods) won’t ever work or feel fulfilling.
If you and your camera were invisible for one day, what would you shoot?: My daughter – I wish I could bottle her up while she’s still this sweet, innocent age (she’s 4). I’m obsessed with documenting her! She’s our only and when she’s all grown and I’m old and crusty, I want to make sure I remember everything.
Tell us a story of something funny, embarrassing, or suspenseful that happened during a shoot.: Every shoot with me is funny and I am CONSTANTLY embarrassing myself! All for the sake of getting relaxed and happy folks in front of my camera. It really does help! Photography can be intimidating – as a photographer and as a client, and the more you can do to connect with folks as a real person (instead of the person wielding this huge, scary piece of plastic and metal), the more relaxed and true to life your images are.
Ever split your pants or get injured all in effort to capture that special shot?: Never any pants splitting, but I do have some really exceptional “photographer poses” that help me stoop or squat into the perfect angle for detail shots or little ones. I always tell my clients “My awkwardness = photography awesomeness”. That’s never failed me (yet!).
If you were in a public area and everyone was skipping instead of walking, would you join the fun?: Of course! I’m the one leading the pack! If embarrassing myself helps others have fun, I’m all about it!
Why do you feel that packaging is so important to your brand?: Your entire client experience, from start to finish should be consistent with your brand. For me, I like a natural, clean look and K+J delivers just that! When I present my clients with their images, I want them to take away a beautiful, finished product, and that includes taking the time to package their items with all the fun packaging that K+J offers, while adding my own personal touches that are consistent with my brand. It’s all about setting yourself apart from others in this industry, and packaging is a super important step!
We love the simplicity of our photography packaging. It offers a natural beauty and gives you the opportunity to personalize your delivery with the elements that speak to your brand or to your clients. One way to dress up your boxes, USB pouches, or album wraps is with our brand new Sola flowers!
They add a beautiful final touch to any photo package, but we especially love how they coordinate with our new linen line!
Available in many different colors, each Sola flower is a hand-crafted blossom made from a tapioca plant. While they are deceptively petal-looking, these flowers are made from a soft wood and tie in nicely with our other natural-inspired goodies.
The best thing about these flowers? They never die, and your clients can easily un-clip from the packaging and re-use over and over! Turn into hair accessories, dress up a purse or tote, keep a scarf in place, or create a pop of pizzazz on your young daughter’s dress or tutu. Every time your client grabs that Sola flower, they’ll be reminded of you!
Now available, these accessories will be a fun and flowery way to spruce up your photo packaging. Be sure to share your packaging images with us @kraftandjute.
Here at Kraft & Jute Packaging we’ve had an opportunity to develop some new products that we hope will give you more packaging options for your brand. Most of these designs have started from feedback and comments from our photographer friends. So let us know if you have a need for a product and we’ll see if it’s something we can’t help create for you.
